

Ecologica was incorporated in 1998 with the purpose of supporting and developing innovative sustainable forestry projects combining global climate change and LULUCF (Land Use Change and Forestry) projects. The company has extensive operational experience in the Brazilian Amazon region and is also active in other areas of Brazil and internationally.
Through its early history, Ecologica played a groundbreaking role in the development of pioneer carbon sequestration projects in Latin America, Ecologica was responsible for the development of one of the first carbon sequestration projects in Brazil, the “Bananal Island Carbon Sequestration Project” located in the Tocantins State. The Project’s scope was to offset carbon emissions through the establishment and maintenance of carbon sinks, securing local community welfare and participation
In early 2008, the non forestry activities were successfully incorporated by CantorCO2e, a leading global environmental finance company. After the partial merger, Ecologica focused in developing Sustainable Long Term Forestry Projects in the Amazon region. Its quota holders, Divaldo Rezende and Stefano Merlin, used their experience to select special projects and highly skilled professionals to run such projects.
