Caraja Energetic Project
The Caraja Energetic project is a very innovative Forestry project developed by Ecologica combining a reforestation of 20.000 ha of fast grown energetic forest (eucalyptus sp.) and the regeneration of the legal reserves in the deforestation arc in the Amazon region.
- Generate 363.000 tCO2eq/year or 7.633.000 tCO2eq during all project lifetime (21 years)
- Partnership with land owners already organized in Forestry Cooperatives
- Supply the increasing charcoal demand of metallurgical sector
- Creation of job opportunities from forest related activities
- To implement a new perspective of land use more suitable to the forest systems than cattle rising and agrobusiness
